Is it bad to drink from a water bottle once it has been left in the sun or in high temperatures?

It depends. If it's plastic, yes. Although the jury is still out on whether plastic water bottles left in the sun are harmful, there is plenty of evidence that BPA is released into the water, which we then drink. Stainless steel is a fantastic material for keeping your drink hot or cold under any conditions. Due to its hermetic nature, you can lock in a temperature that can be maintained in extremely cold conditions. Stainless steel is extremely durable and can withstand the cold more effectively than plastic or glass. If you are in extreme cold and your water freezes, steel is the only material that won't explode. Glass and plastic can break, which could leave you without a drink and could also cause you harm.

Stainless steel is the most hygienic for water bottles as they are easy to clean and do not retain dirt and grime. Glass comes a close second with its ability to be easily cleaned but cannot withstand high temperatures and lacks durability (how many times have you broken glass in the dishwasher?) . By far the worst material is plastic, and although it looks smooth to us, under the microscope we see that plastic is a rough surface that can attract bacteria.
